What is Jewish Studies?
Jewish studies is a humanitarian discipline aimed at studying the history, culture, literature, and religion of the Jewish people. Jewish studies also include the study of Jewish philosophy and law, the analysis of classical Jewish texts, Jewish language studies, etc.
Why is it important and interesting to study it?
For thousands of years, Jewish civilization developed alongside European civilization. Its contribution to European culture, literature, philosophy, etc. is difficult to overestimate. Jewish history is also an integral part of the history of Ukraine. Unfortunately, the cultural and historical heritage of Ukrainian Jewry remains poorly researched, and numerous archives and libraries are waiting for future specialists. This opens up broad prospects for the study of Judaic studies in Ukraine.
Program objective
The program provides basic knowledge of Jewish history and culture; its goal is to promote the development of Jewish studies in Ukraine and to form a community of specialists in this field in the future
Who is the program for?
The program is for humanities students aiming to specialize in Jewish studies, for people with Jewish studies background, and for everyone interested, who would like to expand their knowledge and improve their skills in this field.
Classes are held online.
Classes at the Certificate Program are held in the evening three to four days a week.
The program has no age restrictions.
