Administrative director of Certificate Program speaks at International Holocaust Remembrance Day event

On Monday, January 27, International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the 18th roundtable “Ukrainian Society and the Memory of the Holocaust: Legacy and Contemporary Challenges” took place in Kyiv.

The roundtable dedicated to International Holocaust Remembrance Day has been organized by the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies for 18 consecutive years.

Administrative Director of the International Interdisciplinary Certificate Program in Jewish Studies took part in the event. During her presentation, she spoke about the key principles and main areas of the program’s work. She also emphasized that Jewish history and culture should be studied and researched as an integral part of Ukraine’s historical heritage, and that research in this field is impossible without a deep knowledge of both the history of Jewish communities in Eastern Europe and the history of their destruction during the Second World War.

The participation of the leadership of the Certificate Program in Judaica in this event is expected to become a starting point for cooperation with its main organizer — the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies.

The event was made possible thanks to the support of Goethe-Institut Ukraine and House of Europe.
