New students begin their journey in Certificate Program in Jewish Studies

On September 15, first-year students officially began their studies in the International Interdisciplinary Certificate Program in Jewish Studies.

The opening lecture, “Introduction to Jewish Traditional Culture,” was delivered by program lecturer and Jewish cemetery research expert, Alexandra Fishel.

This year’s cohort brings together highly motivated students with diverse goals. For some, the program is a way to deepen their understanding of the history of Jewish communities in Ukraine and around the world. For others, it is a step toward fostering intercultural dialogue and building a better awareness of our shared past. Still others see Jewish Studies as an underexplored field where they can make a meaningful contribution to the study of Jewish history in Ukraine.

Over the next two years, students will embark on a challenging yet rewarding academic journey.
